Make Grilling Great Again

Whenever you want to start grilling some meat for your friends and family, you always wonder why it is always so dirty. Guess what? That’s because the grill hasn’t been cleaned in a long time! Nobody wants to have dirt on their food while they cook, so would you want that to happen? No! That’s why you must clean your grill like how you want your pots and pans also cleaned as well.

In this blog, we’ll give you a step-by-step process on how to clean your BBQ grill along with a few tips to help give your grill the best care possible. Read on below if you want to know how to make grilling great again.

  1. Preheat the Grill

Before you start cleaning your grill, you need to burn off a few remnants from all the cooking and grilling you’ve done. In other words, you need to preheat your grill. To do this, turn on your BBQ grill and set it on high. Leave the grill like that for about 10-15 minutes before shutting the grill off. During this time, the overwhelming heat of the grill will burn off any remaining food particles or grease.

  • Use a Grill Brush

With all the food particles and grease burned away, time to scrub the grill but you’ll need to move fast on this one. While the grill is still hot, get a grill brush and start scrubbing the grates. Before you start scrubbing, find a brush that has stiff bristles that can get in between the grates. That way, you can clean the dirt off more easily than you would if you had weak bristles.

  • Soak the Grates

Once you’ve brushed off all the dirt from the grill grates, the next step is to soak those very same grates just to be sure. After doing the brushing, soak the grates in warm, soapy water just to be sure for about 10-15 minutes. Do this step as both the hot water and the liquid soap when mixed, would loosen any remaining grime on the grates.

  • Scrub the Grates

With all that grime loosened, it’s time to do some scrubbing. First off, get either a sponge or scrubber from your kitchen sink, and start scrubbing the grates of your grill with such detail to remove any remaining food or debris from all those barbeque cooking sessions you’ve had before. You don’t any meat from the previous session becoming stuck into your newly cooked BBQ steak at the next party.

  • Clean the Inside of a Grill

Now that the grates are fully cleaned, it’s time to focus on what’s left under the grates of the grill. In this case, you’ll have to clean the grill insides as well. Remove the clean grates from the grill and get either a scraper or the grill brush you used earlier to brush off the grease. Once you got either of those, start cleaning the inside of the grill for any dirt, foot, or any debris you find that makes your BBQ grill dirty.

  • Clean the Drip Pan

While you’re cleaning the insides of the grill, there’s one important part of it that also needs cleaning. Underneath your big grill, while you barbecue your meat like a true middle-aged dad, is the drip pan. This pan catches any material that drips from above, such as the flavorful juices from any meat being cooked to perfection as the oil would flare up the flames like a fire show or any oil from coating the water in the water which prevents evaporation.  Hence the importance of having your drip pan cleaned. To do this, remove the pan from under the grill and wipe it with a damp cloth.

  • Rinse and Dry

Once you’re done cleaning both the insides and the drip pan, it’s time to wash away all the soapy liquids and bits of dirt off both of them. Rinse the grates and the drip pan with water and dry them thoroughly with a clean towel.

  • Oil the Grates

Good job, you’ve cleaned your grill from top to bottom. Now it’s ready to be used in case of grilling some juicy meat next time. But remember, if you want to prevent any food from sticking to the grates like last time, coat them lightly with some oil before you cook them. That way, the food will be too oily to stick to any surface, especially the grates. If you’re wondering which type of oil to use for your meat, use a high smoke point oil canola or grapeseed.

Conclusion

When you follow these steps in cleaning your grill, you’re not only ensuring your grill is clean for the next use, but you’re also ensuring that you or anyone else around you that’s eating meat cooked from your grill from becoming ill or getting any food poisoning.
